Preparation
Prepare your surface correctly. Either clean it with Exterior Wood Cleaner for new wood or sand it for renovations. Use a 80-grit sandpaper for decking and siding and up to 120-grit for furniture, windows and doors. Depending on the state of the wood, sanding might still be recommended for new wood after cleaning.

Stir & apply
Stir DuroGrit thoroughly for a few minutes before use. Apply a generous coat of DuroGrit and distribute evenly to the surface in the direction of the wood installation. Work in small sections of approximately 1 or 2 boards wide and avoid stopping in the middle of a board.

Sit back & relax
No need for wiping off any excess oil. Just sit back, let it dry for about 3 hours and relax! Complete curing takes roughly 3 days.

Maintain
Clean the wood regularly with Exterior Soap (Ecospray) or All Natural Wood Cleaner (Spray). Check your wood every year just after the winter season. If needed, clean the surface or do some touch-ups. You can trust in our 10-year warranty for vertical surfaces and 2-year warranty for horizontal surfaces.

Spray application
DuroGrit can also be applied by spraying. This makes application even more effortless and allows for faster drying, which makes it perfect for industrial applications.
- Use our standard DuroGrit for manual spraying
- Use our specific Industrial DuroGrit for spraycoaters, vacuum coater applications or for manual spraying in indoor environments

Why is 0% VOC important?
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are chemicals that evaporate after applying oil, harming both health and the environment. They can cause allergies, breathing issues, and eye irritation while also contributing to ozone depletion and climate change. Yet, many traditional wood finish manufacturers only reduce VOCs instead of eliminating them. Luckily, we choose to be different.
We strive to make products without any harmful substances for planet and people and we’re proud that DuroGrit is VOC free. That way, we can guarantee safe wood protection for our employees in production, the professionals applying our products and the homeowners.
What’s the difference between DuroGrit & WoodCream?
DuroGrit and WoodCream differ in several key ways, especially when it comes to the type of surfaces they’re suited for and the final look and feel they provide.
WoodCream is a wax-based, hydrophobic cream specifically designed for vertical wood surfaces such as cladding, fences, windows and doors. It colours and protects the wood and can be applied in one or multiple layers. Its finish is more opaque than DuroGrit, making it ideal for changing the original colour of the wood or for renovation projects where sanding back to bare wood isn’t possible. WoodCream is also extremely water-repellent and has a self-cleaning effect, which significantly reduces maintenance.
DuroGrit, on the other hand, is a water-based oil fortified with wood fibers, developed to maintain the wood’s original colour and prevent greying. It delivers a very transparent, matte finish that preserves the natural look and feel of the wood. In addition to strong UV resistance, DuroGrit also offers excellent wear resistance, making it suitable not only for vertical applications but also for horizontal surfaces such as terraces and outdoor furniture.
